This morning, I finally had to break down and tell my friend Beverly's three-year-old that it wasn't socially acceptable to yell "Bye, Alligator!" to me when I leave. She's been saying that for weeks now.
"It's 'See you later, Alligator,'" I tried to explain. "Don't you get it?! It rhymes! You can't just say 'Bye.'"
What kind of mother allows her child to yell out a farewell that doesn't even rhyme? The poor child is going to grow up sounding ignorant. If you say something like that to your second grade friends, you're the one who'll end up playing by yourself in the sandbox. ...Not that I know that from personal experience or anything.

Track of the Day: "When It's Good" by Ben Harper
"Some drink to remember
Some to forget
Some for satisfaction
Some to regret..."
At least your friend didn't say 'make like a tree and get out of here'. BTW - to answer the line from 'Track of the Day' is -- yes.
